Dragon Ball Z: Race guide

» Androids – This in an artificial race. Usually androids start out as another race, but are ‘enhanced’ with technology. The exception are the biotechnological androids like Cell. Cell is ertirely created with the use of cells of other beings. All androids in the series are created by Dr. Gero, who even makes himself one. They usually look just like normal people or can look very strange. They are immensely powerful and most have a mission to kill Goku.

» Animals There are a variety of animals seen through out the series. The two most important are Puar and Oolong. Many animals are shown walking, and even talking like humans! Colonel Yellow, a high ranking official of the Red Ribbon Army is a tiger. Even the King of the Earth is a walrus like creature!

» Arconia-Jins – This is the race responsible for suppling the Saiya-Jins with technology such as the spacepods. In return for this technology the Saiya-Jins would conqour planets for the Arconia-Jins. It is not known what happens to the Arconia-Jin, but it is most likely that Frieza had them destroyed.

» Arlians – A race of giant insects that inhabit the planet Arlia. They show up in the anime only when Vegeta and Nappa visit their planet to “get some exercise”. Vegeta ends up destroying their entire race and planet as they leave.

Aruhua-jins When Bibidi created Buu, he wasn’t able to controll him. On his rampage throughout the universe Buu destroyed many worlds before he could be stopped. The Aruhua race was one of them, over 5 million years ago.

» Bas-Jins – These are a race of short, 4-eyed telepaths. They possess the ability to stop time by holding their breath. Only one member of this race is shown to us in the series, this is Guldo of the Ginyu Force. It is not known what happened to his people.

Bio Warriors An odd-looking group of biological warriors created by Jaga’s scientists in DBZ Movie 11. These warriors are quite formidable by human standards, but their power amounts to nothing compared to Android 18, Trunks and Goten, who defeat them effortlessly.

» Bune-JinsThe only person of this race we see in the series is Pui Pui. Although hes a Majin that doesn’t mean he was always a Majin. Pui Pui comes from the planet Bune thus he is a Bune-Jin. His home planet has the same gravity level as Planet Vegeta which is 10xs that of Earth. Not much is really none about this race they may possible be a very cocky race. I say this because Pui Pui was very cocky, this is what led to his defeat by Vegeta who was had trained under 500x Earth’s gravity.

» Changlings This is the race to which Frieza, Cooler and King Cold belong. Not much is known of their origins. All that is known is that all 3 posses the ability to transform & not just once but several times. Doing so greatly increases their power. We first see this race in the Frieza Saga. As a side note, I’d like to point out that the term “Changelings” is never actually said or referenced in anything officially created for Dragonball, Dragonball Z, or Dragonball GT. The name in actuality is just something fans made up for easy discussion somewhere between the mid-to-late 1990’s. While writing this guide, I could have just called them “The Race, Frieza, Cooler, and King Cold Belong To”, but that seems even worse!

» Dark-Jins We only see one member of this race in the series. His home world is pitch black and one of their special abilities is they are able to eat energy/light. Yakon (the only Dark-Jin we see) ends up eating to much of Goku’s energy and explodes. Yakon is also a Majin but wasn’t always under Babidi’s control.

» DemonsUsually evil creatures, who like to kill. The King of Demons is Dabura, who is taken under control by Babidi. He was the first to fall by Buu when he is releases by Babidi. When we see him in Other World his emotions changed, he became a kind, very caring creature & he helps Bulma, Chi-Chi, and Videl look for Gohan because at this time they all think he had been killed by Buu even thought he had not.

DinosaursWe all know what they are so I’ll just explain when we mostly see them. Dr. Briefs (Bulma’s dad) has a whole collection as pets, they live inside Capsule Corp. We also see a bunch of Dinosaurs when Piccolo is training Gohan.

» Dragons – All the dragons seen in the series are related to the Dragonballs (Orange floating things in the picture). We see many different types of Dragons, but it is Shenron who most closely resembles a “traditional dragon”. The rest are the Evil Shenrons from DBGT, or the strange Porunga from the Namekian Dragonballs.

» Genies – A race of peaceful creatures who do not have the ability to grant wishes. Mr. Popo is a genie, although he doesn’t look like it, he is a great fighter. They use magic carpets to go long distances and are pretty agile. Mr. Popo is the assistant to whoever it is that happens to be Earth Guardian at the time.

Ghosts – We all know what Ghosts are so I will explain when they appear in the series. In Dragonball we see “Ghost Usher” who directs people around Baba’s place when they show up. In Dragonball Z, Gotenks shows us his “Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack” which allows him to create one or more ghosts that explode on contact with anything.

» Hemadeins – Not much is known of this race but it is likely they they have a similar history to the Saiyans. Cui is the only known member of the race & he was one of Frieza’s strongest goons. Cui is later killed by Vegeta when they meet on Namek.

» Humans – This, surprisingly, is the race to which we all belong. Humans inhabit the Planet Earth, and apart from a few individuals (Tien, Yamcha, Chiaotzu, Roshi, Krillin), most are comparatively weak along side people like the Saiyans and Namekians, because most of the race does not know anything about Ki manipulation.

» ImmeckiansThey live on the Planet Immecka. Their ruler is Lord Don Kee who is a huge coward, so he has his egotistic bodyguard, Ledgick, to handle his more difficult intruders and subjects. Lord Don Kee unfairly forces his impossible to satisfy appetite for taxes and wealth out of his citizens.

» Kais – These creatures are gods over a sector of a galaxy. The Kais shown here are the gods over the Milky Way, our galaxy. The most seen Kai is North Kai, or King Kai, who trains Goku, Piccolo, Tenshinhan, Yamcha and Chiaotzu. He also watches over the Z Fighters, often offering advice.

» Kaioshins – These creatures are even higher gods than the Kais. These gods watch over sectors of the universe, and one of the them is supreme god of the entire universe. They are immensely powerful, but not immortal, which is proved by Majin Buu, when he slaughters all but 2 of the Kaioshins.

» Kanassa-Jins – The Kanassa-Jin are a race possessing psychic abilities, including being able to read minds, and see into the future. Their race is all but wiped out by Bardock’s team. However, one survives and gives Bardock the ability to see the future, so he can see his own destruction, just as the Kanassa-Jin were forced to. The last Kanassa-Jin is then killed by Toma.

» Kerubo-jins – The Kerubo-jin live on a planet with a lot of seismic activity. Also living on the planet is a big catfish-like creature who can predict earthquakes by using his whiskers, and who the Kerubo-jin think to be a god. Trunks, Pan and Goku unmask this fraud and the Kerubo-jin can go on living their quiet lives.

» Konatsa-Jin – The two Konatsa-Jins we see in the series are Minosha and Tapion. They are very noble and will often fight off enemies, even if the odds are against them. An evil monster Hildegarn divested their home planet, Konats, leaving only Tapion and Minosha to fight Hildegarn off. Tapion played a song on his ocarina to temporarily control Hildegarn allowing both halves to be sealed inside the two. A box which contains this is opened on Earth, In the end Hildegarn is killed by Goku

» Lude-Jin – The lude-jin are members of the cult of Ruudo. They worship a giant statue that’s in reality a disguised robot made by Dr. Myuu. When Goku, Pan and Trunks threaten to defeat Mochii, the high priest of Ruudo, all lude-jin are turned into dolls and offered to Ruudo. When Ruudo is defeated they all turn back to normal.

M2-jins – Dr. Myuu replaced the original inhabitants of planet M2 by machine mutants. Gill, who’s from M2, betrays Goku, trunks and Pan and delivers them to Rilldo (aka “Shogun Rirudo” or “General Lock”). Rilldo works for Dr. Myuu, who wants to use their Saiyan energy to revive the Tsufuru-king Baby. Later, he starts to regret this and helps our heroes, who then defeat Rilldo.

» Majins – This is the race to which Babidi and his father, Bibidi belong. Also when ever Babidi enslaves anyone, they become Majin, e.g.: Majin Vegeta. All Majin have the symbol of the Majin on their body. This symbol is an M

» Makyo-Jins – This is the race to which Garlic Jr. belongs. They inhabit the Makyo Star, which gives them great power. The Makyo Star passes close to Earth every 1000 years, and Garlic Jr. uses this opportunity to take over the earth, but he is sent to the Dead Zone by Gohan.

» Meat-Jins – Bardock and his team were assigned to swipe this planet of life by Frieza, who intended for it to be a trap for Bardock. Unfortunately, Bardock’s team goes without him because he was still regenerating from the battle on Kanassa. When Bardock finally reaches the planet, he finds that the Meat-jin had been successfully destroyed, but he also finds his dead team. Shortly after his discovery, he is attacked by Dodoria and his men, who beat him up and leave him for dead.

» Metamories
This race plays a brief, but important role in the series. Like the people of Yardrat they are responsible for teaching Goku a very useful technique. The Metamories are the inventors of the Fusion Dance that Goku teaches to Goten and Trunks. Nothing is known of their appearance because they are never seen in the series, all that is known is that Goku met them in Heaven sometime between the Cell and Majin Buu Sagas & in that time is when he learns the Fusion Dance from them.

» Momasu-Jins – The Momasu are giants, like everything on the planet is gigantic. On their search for the Black Star Dragonballs Pan, Trunks and Goku arrive on this planet to find the Dragonball being stuck inside a tooth of one of the inhabitants. Goku plays dentist by shooting out the tooth with a Kamehameha blast, and also recovering a Dragonball this way.

Mutants – The Mutants that appear in the series were usually very powerful and skilled fighters. The most well known mutants are the Ginyu Force. They work for Frieza and we see them fight Krillin, Vegeta, & Gohan until Goku shows up who defeats all of them but Captain Ginyu with ease.

» Namekians – This race is first introduced to us when Goku fights Piccolo Daimao, who is a very old Nameksei-Jin. But it isn’t until the Saiyan Saga that Piccolo and Kami learn of their otherworldly origins. After Piccolo’s death at Nappa’s hands. Gohan, Krillin and Bulma depart to the Planet Namek, to gather the original Dragonballs to revive their friends. During this time all the Nameksei-Jin are wiped out by Frieza and his men. They are eventually revived with the Earth’s Dragonballs and sent to live on New Namek. All Nameksei-Jin are asexual as Toriyama based them on snails and slugs.

» Ogres – Also known as Oni, this race we see mostly as workers in the afterlife. Ogres either have a single horn or two horns on their head, some also only had 1 eye. They are given tasks like watching over Hell, checking the souls to make sure they have been purified, and other things. The Ogres gave their energy to Goku during the Buu Saga for his big Spirit Bomb. During DBZ Movie 12, they are almost all wiped out by Janemba. They run a sort of ‘airport’ to transport souls around heaven.

» Rito-Jins – Very human-like in appearance, this species had all of their families of these orphans killed right in front of their eyes by Frieza. After their families were murdered by Frieza, these orphan’s took up traveling the galaxy and capturing vessels. When they captured the Namek ship that Krillin, Bulma, and Gohan were traveling in, they appeared hostile at first but upon learning of our hero’s intentions they let them go. These orphan’s traveled the Northern Galaxy as “space pirates” in a mirror-like spaceship.

» Robots – Robot’s are built and programmed to do whatever the creater pleases. We see a lot of Robot’s guarding some kind of important objects. In DBZ we see Androids created by Dr. Gero which are a whole different thing. Robot’s are usually much weaker and usually have 1 or 2 very simple objectives at hand.

» Saibamen – The exact origin of this species is unknown, but they were most likely created in a lab on Planet Vegeta. The Saibamen were created to help the Saiyans train at a higher level. They were also used on occasion as a fighting weapon with built in acid they could shoot out of their head along with a self-destruction option. Since each Saibamen had a power level identical to Raditz at 1,200, the Z warriors had a semi-tough problem fighting them. The most odd thing about the Saibamen was that they were ‘grown’ from the ground by planting a seed.

» Saiyans – This is one of the series’ main races. All of the main characters belong to this race. They first arrived on the Planet Plant in 550AD and eventually took over the whole planet, renaming it Vegeta. They then encountered Frieza, who employed them to wipe planets of their life before being sold. Fearing they would one day overthrow him, Frieza destroyed them all along with the planet, leaving only Goku, Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, Broly, Paragus and Turles as survivors.

Shamo-Jins – This race shows up in Movie #8. They are being uses as slave labor on New Planet Vegeta by Paragus after their home world was destroyed by Broly. However during the fight with Broly the race is evacuated to the Capsule Corp spaceship, but it is not know what happens to them after this. Presumably the Z Warriors help them find a new planet like they did for the Nameksei-Jin.

Shape shifters – A Shape shifter is someone who can change themselves to look however they want. Puar & Oolong went to a Shape shifting school & learned how to use this power but this is more of a morphing ability. There is a special shape shifting race that we see in DBZ, they have the ability to morph into anything for as long as they want. They also have the ability to morph the planet they lived on, their names were Zaacro & Raiti. When they see Bulma, Goku and Krillin land on their planet they transform into fake Namekians and try to trick them into thinking the planet they are on is Namek so they can escape the planet on the Z-Fighter’s ship, but of course they fail.

» Tuffles – This race shared the Planet Plant (Old Vegeta), with the Saiya-Jin, and although weaker than the Saiya-Jin, they kept them at bay with their advanced technology, such as the Scouters and Blasters. They were also the inventors of the Space pods we see in the series. They were wiped out when a full moon appeared on the planet Plant, allowing the Saiya-Jins to go Oozaru and destroy the Tsfuru-Jin.

» Vampires – Vampires in Dragonball are basically the same as Vampires in other stories. But one Vampire we see is able to live in the sun light. He also for some strange reason was a kick boxer. But of course like all reasons he can’t stand garlic or a cross. Upa and Puar use this to their advantage when they fight Dracula Man (picture above). Dracula Man is the first of Baba’s five fighters & we see him when Goku & friends need Baba’s help to find a Dragon Ball.

» Yardrat-jins – This race was first met by Goku after the defeat of Frieza on Planet Namek. He arrived in an abandoned Ginyu pod. If it wasn’t for Frieza calling The Ginyu Force to Namek, they would have destroyed the Yardrato-Jin, it being their next mission. They are a physically weak race, but possess the ability to manipulate space and time, and teach Goku Instant Transmission.

Senzu Beans

Senzu Beans – will revive whoever eats one to full power nearly instantly. Here you can find out who ate them, when, and why. These beans are made by Korin in his tower and can also keep somone full for a very long time. If a Saiyan happens to eat one of these beans they will nearly double what there strength was before. Keep in mind this is only possible for a Saiyan to do. However, it’s not something only a Senzu Bean can do Saiyan’s happen to have a unique healing ability and will become much stronger once they have healed from a near death injury.#1 – When Goku climbs Korin Tower in the Red Ribbon Army saga, he becomes extremely hungry from not eating for about 2 days, so Korin tosses him a Senzu Bean.

#2 – At Korin Tower, Goku uses another bean to heal himself from the fight with King Piccolo. This is when the true advantage of the Senzu Bean is first realized in the series.

#3 – After Goku fought Piccolo at the 23rd Budoukai, Yajirobe makes his first of many “Senzu deliveries”. Goku uses a bean to heal from the intense fight and then for no apparent reason at all, gives Piccolo one. He later says that it was an act of pity, and “no matter how strong Piccolo becomes, I will always be one step ahead.”

#4 –
After Goku leaves Snake Way, he passes by Korin’s tower. Korin throws him two beans, one of which he eats to recover from the harsh trip down Snake Way and the other he splits between Gohan and Krillin from the fight against Nappa.

#5 – After the fight against Vegeta, Goku is put in the hospital until he gets a Senzu Bean from Yajirobe. After he finished the Senzu Bean he grabs a bag full of them and heads to Namek. On his way to Namek Goku uses two Senzu beans because of his 100x gravity training and another when he hits himself with a Kamehameha.

#6 – When Goku arrives on Namek, he gives Gohan and Krillin half of a Senzu Bean to recover from their fight against Recoome. Goku then gives one to Vegeta who was also injured from the battle with Recoome, but only when he realizes that they are on the same side.

#7 – During the Android Saga Android #20 punches a hole through Yamcha’s stomach nearly killing him. When Yamcha is taken out to Safety he is given a Senzu Bean restoring him to full health.

#8 – When Goku fights Android #19 everyone notices that Goku is weakening, because of this Krillin tosses him a bean. It has no effect, because the real problem was the heart virus which Future Trunks had said killed Goku in his time.

#9 – After Vegeta beats Android #19, he realizes that a lot of his power had been drained. Because of this he asks Krillin for a Senzu Bean (Krillin at this point has a whole bag of the Senzu Beans).

#10 – When Piccolo, Gohan, Tien, Krillin, and Vegeta are searching a desert for Android #20, #20 pulls a surprise attack on Piccolo and manages to take quite a bit of his energy. Piccolo recovers that energy with a Senzu Bean from Krillin.

#11 – After the fight with Android #17 and #18, Vegeta , Trunks , Piccolo , and Tien were all nearly unconscious. Krillin (still with the bag of Senzu Beans) gives each of them one.

#12 – Piccolo along with Tien were each beaten up by Cell. Piccolo was nearly killed and then blasted into the ocean and Tien was so weak after holding back Cell with all the Tri-Beams that he collapsed. After Tien was defenseless Cell began to kick him around, each were given a Senzu Bean by Goku.

#13 – When Trunks leaves Kami’s lookout to follow Vegeta to Cell, Goku gives him two Senzu Beans that Korin had kept from before. Trunks uses the first one a while later to heal Krillin who had recklessly attacked Cell out of frustration that Android #18, whom he loved, had been absorbed. The second Senzu is used to heal Vegeta after his fight with Perfect Cell.

#14 – Korin rushes during the next ten days, to grow a few more Senzu Beans for Goku, and manages to give him the beans on his way to the Cell Games. However, the first bean used is Given from to Cell by Goku, after their fight. The purpose of this was to make sure the fight between Gohan and Cell would be fair.

#15 – After Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks, Tien, Yamcha, and Krillin were badly injured from the Cell Juniors, Gohan got the bag from Cell (who had stolen them from Goku earlier when he tried to eat one and interfere in his fight vs. Gohan) and fed Krillin a bean. He then gave the bag to Krillen and told him to heal everyone else.

#16 – In the middle of the 25th Budoukai, Goku uses instant transmission to go to Korin Tower and retrieves a Senzu Bean for Videl, who had been badly beaten by Spopovitch in the tournament. When Goku gets back to the tournament he gives one of the three beans he had gotten from Korin to Gohan who immediately gives it to Videl.

#17 – When Gohan and Supreme Kai are about to go fight Dabura and Babidi, Goku tosses Gohan a Senzu Bean so he will be able to fight better (he was still a little wounded from the first time that he fought Dabura).

#18 – After Goku fights Majin Vegeta both warriors are badly wounded. Goku starts to pull out his bag of Senzu Beans deciding to split the last bean with Vegeta so they can both fight Fat Buu together. However, before he can do so, Vegeta knocks him unconcious from behind, steals and eats the last Senzu bean, and goes through the portal in Babidi’s ship to face Fat Buu.

The Red Ribbon Army

Red Ribbon Army – first appear in Dragonball trying to find the Dragonballs at the same time as Goku in the earlier parts of the Dragonball series. In result of searching for the Dragonballs they send a wave of fear and destruction through the world as they searched for the Dragonballs. The RR Army’s plan was to wish for world domination. The army was controlled by a short man name Commander Red. Commander Red had said that wish for the Dragonballs so the RR Army would do it, yet he secretly was going to wish to be tall. When Assistant Black found out about the real wish, he killed Commander Red, and took control of the army, re-naming it to the Black Ribbon Army. Soon after Goku destroys the entire RR Army, killing Black with it. To see a scan from Daizenshuu 4 of the Red Ribbon Army rankings click here.

» Commander Red – The original commander in the Red Ribbon Army, he is very short. He is thought to have wanted to Dragonballs to wish for World Domination, but really wants to wish to be taller. When Assistant Black found out about the real wish, Black got mad, and shot Red in the head, thus, he renamed it to the Black Ribbon Army.

» Assistant Black – Red’s right hand man. Black usually just stood around and said exactly what Red wanted to hear, although, he really hated his job. He was a very tall black man, who made Red very mad every time he stood next to him because of how much shorter Red was. When Black found out about the wish that Red really wanted to make, he shot him dead in the head, and, renamed the army to Black Ribbon Army. Goku fought him in Black’s metal suit, but, Goku killed him, by going
straight through the suit, thus, making it explode.

» General Blue – One of the high-ranking officers of the Red Ribbon Army. Although he was very strong, he was also gay. He had a special technique that he could paralyze people, where they couldn’t move, thus, Blue could go into an attack and defeat them. He chased Goku around a lot to find the Dragon Balls. He also fought a lot of other people to get away and go back the RRA HQ. When he got to the HQ, Red looked on his dragon radar and saw that he missed a ball where he was. In the Dragon Ball series, his death was to fight Tao Pai Pai, and, lost by Tao sticking his tongue on a pressure point on his head. In the 10th Anniversary movie, his death was execution by some low level privates. They dragged him in a room and shot him to death.

» General White – In charge of Muscle Tower, he commands Android #8, Sergeant Metallic, Sergeant Purple, and Monster Buyon. He had a Dragon Ball that Goku wanted, and, he also hurt many people in the village outside of the Tower. Goku didn’t like that, so he went to go fight him. After Goku had defeated every person in the tower, he went after White. White had the mayor held captive and threatened to kill the mayor if need be. Goku didn’t move one bit, but he was the one that got shot anyway.. After Goku fell, White tried to fire again, but Android 8 blocked it. Android 8 went into a rage and charged White. He then blew White out of the tower, sending him to a snowy grave.

» General Copper – Although we don’t see him in the manga, he controls Captain Yellow, Captain Violet, and Captain Silver. He commands them all to find the Dragon Ball’s, so he could take them back to Red, and get all the credit.

» Captain Yellow – We see him briefly in the manga and anime, but he goes around trying to find the Dragon Ball’s for General Copper. That is basically all we see him do.

» Captain Violet – We see her briefly in the anime, but, never in the manga. She gives a Dragon Ball to General Copper, and, is never seen again.

» Captain Silver – The first of the high-ranking officers that Goku fights. This is a very short fight. Silver let his guard down completely, because, he didn’t know Goku had a lot of strength. After Goku defeated Silver, he got a Dragon Ball and ran off. Silver then told Copper what happened, and, saw he was heading north, so, he told Copper to tell White in Muscle Tower to be ready for a very strong boy.

» Android 8 – The first of the Androids we see in the series. He is ordered to fight Goku under Sergeant Purple’s orders, but refuses. Purple threatens to make him explode if he doesn’t, but Android 8 said he would rather die than fight. Goku couldn’t bear to see this so, he knocked out Purple. Android 8 was so happy; he gave Goku the Dragon Ball he stole. They then went up the muscle together, fighting monster Buyon and General White. He got very mad at White, when he shot Goku, and Goku didn’t get up. He then hit White so hard; he went straight out the tower’s wall and fell into the snow. Android 8 went to go live with the mayor, and, is seen briefly again at the end of the Buu saga, giving some of his power to build the ultimate Spirit Bomb.

» Monster Buyon – A very fat and giggly monster. He is located in the secret fifth floor of the muscle tower. When Goku was on the fourth floor with Android 8, Goku asked what was on the fifth floor. Android 8 said there was no fifth floor. So, they went to General White. White then opened a hatch to a very dark fifth room with the monster Buyon. Goku tried every way possible to kill him. He blasted a Kamehameha at him, but, it went right back at Goku. Goku tried hitting him, but Goku just fell back. The monster almost ate Goku, but he got an idea. He remember how cold it was outside, and how it made him frozen. He blasted a Kamehameha at the wall, and a blast of cold air came in, and froze Buyon. He then punched Buyon, and flew straight to the sixth floor.

» Sergeant Purple – Even though he is smart, he loses to Goku in a fight. After the fight he tries to unleash Android 8 upon Goku, or he would destroy Android 8. Android 8 refuses, and Goku knocks out Purple before he could do anything.

» Mercenary Tao – Tao is a deadly assasian, who lives for money. He is hired by Commander Red to emilinate Goku. The first time they fight Goku is defeated. But after Korin’s training Goku mops the floor with Tao. He returns at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai as part cyborg, but is beaten again by Tenshinhan. He returns in the Cell Saga. He is hired by a rich coward who is forcing people to build a protective dome against Cell. Gohan shows up to put a stop to this, and when Tao realises who Gohan’s father is he runs off.

» Sergeant Metallic – Goku went into a huge fight with this enormous robot. Goku tried all he could to fight him, but, metallic was so hard, Goku kept getting numb hands. Metallic went into a charge on Goku, and Goku used his Kamehameha to blow him away. But, Metallic just lost his head and a little bit of his clothes. Goku didn’t know what to think. Metallic went after him again for one more attack, but, stopped before Goku could attack. Goku just left him and went to the fourth floor.

Dr. Flappe – The original creator of the androids. In the anime, Akira Toriyama added this doctor into the story, just to have another hostage for Purple. But, you have to remember, Dr. Gero was years off before Akira was thinking of the Cell saga. But, all Dr. Flappe did was stick around, be a hostage, and leave.

»Dr. Gero – THE original creator of every android, and a very pissed man at Goku. He devoted his life to get back at Goku for destroying his creations. We see him as Android 20 in the Cell Saga.

Hasky – A master thief who is occasionally employed by the Red Ribbon Army. She has made a career out of doing the impossible. After she accepts a job, her abilities are such that not even the tightest security can stop her from making off with her prize. Once more, she has accepted a lucrative, lofty assignment from Commander Red: steal the Dragon Balls and get rid of Goku!

NOTE: Mercenary Tao is not part of the Red Ribbon Army, although he does take part in it. He was just an assassin for hire, and, took the job. Although he got paid and did his job, Goku did destroy Tao, after being blown up by a grenade.

Androids 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, New 17, Super 13, and Super 17:
All androids are created by Dr. Gero, who later on becomes one himself (Android #20). Though only android #8 is truly a member of the orriginal RR army, all androids share the same objective: the destruction of Goku. Ironically, the exception is android #8, who’s programming was flawed and didn’t like to fight, who becomes friends with Goku. Androids #16 and #18 also turn ‘good’ in DBZ.

Brolly: Super Saiyan Forms

Mind Controlled Super Saiyan:
This is the weakest of all Broly’s forms and is a slave to his father Paragus, thus he cannot fully maximize his Super Saiyan potential. This form is first awakened by Goku when Broly first sees him in DBZ Movie #8. However, this form does not last when Broly breaks free of Paragus’ control. When Broly is free he is able to release his full power.
Super Saiyan:
Once Broly is free from Paragus, he can turn into a true Super Saiyan. This form is identical to Super Saiyan 1. Granting Broly the usual power and speed increase just like any other super Saiyan would receive.
Legendary Super Saiyan:
This form is very similar to Super Saiyan 3rd Grade (Ultra Super Saiyan), but is not the same. In this form Broly’s muscle mass increases greatly, but he does not suffer any loss of speed. This form is actually closer to Super Saiyan 2, but is not that either due to the muscle increase.

Saiyan History

Long ago there was a planet called planet Plant, which was occupied by two races: the Saiyans and the Tuffles. The Tuffles were an advanced race with big cities and highly-developed technology. The Saiyans were strong savages who lived in wastelands attacking the Tuffles at times. Because of the Tuffles great technology, they were able to fight against the naturally strong Saiyans when needed.

Then one day, the Saiyans banded together and attempted to overtake the planet. The war raged on for many years without anyone clearly having the advantage. Advanced weaponry took on brute strength resulting in a stalemate; that is until a full moon appeared. If a Saiyan looks at the full moon, they transform into a giant ape-like state called Oozaru. In this form their already great power grows tenfold. Luckily for the Tuffles, this event happens only once every seven or eight years. After this transformation had occurred, the Saiyans easily crushed the Tuffles out of existence. From then on the planet was called Planet Vegeta, named after the Saiyans ruler King Vegeta.

But there was a problem. With their arch-nemeses gone, they had no one to fight but each other. Soon they met a race called the Arconians. These are people responsible for supplying the Saiyans with the technology they are so famous for using. In return for this technology the Saiyans would conquer planets for the Arconians, who worked for a being named Frieza.

Lord Frieza was known as the strongest and most powerful being in the universe. He enslaved entire races, and forced them to do his bidding or be destroyed. When Frieza found out about the Saiyans, he saw their enormous power and used them as mercenaries to take over other planets for him. All Saiyans belong to special classes, which is passed down by blood types. When a lower class Saiyan is born, they are sent away to other planets, programmed to take it over when they get strong enough. Because of the ability to transform into an Oozaru, this usually didn’t take very long. Saiyans with the higher classes are kept on Planet Vegeta for more direct use.

One day, Frieza summoned Prince Vegeta who was around five years old at the time, and sent him to a dangerous planet along with the Supreme General of the Saiyan Army, Nappa. King Vegeta knew Frieza had to be stopped and revolted with several of his most loyal men. However, they were no match for Frieza and were defeated effortlessly. Around this time Frieza realizes how much stronger the Saiyans are becoming, and their great potential. Out of fear Frieza blows up the entire Planet Vegeta with a single energy blast from his finger.

Moments before Planet Vegeta explodes, a ship with a low level Saiyan baby flies by to Earth. This baby’s name is Kakarot. As Frieza destroys Planet Vegeta, he gets careless and doesn’t notice this ship go by. However, an even stronger being lurks in the background watching, and this being is Frieza’s brother. Although he notices the ship, decides to let Frieza clean up his own mess.

When the Saiyan baby, Kakarot, lands on Earth, he is found by an old man named Gohan. Even though Kakarot is a baby, he has strength that could easily kill an ordinary human. Gohan is a master of the Martial Arts and tries to raise the Saiyan baby, soon naming him Goku. Gohan drops Goku on his head from a great height. Fortunately, Goku lives, and even better, his Saiyan programming becomes scrambled. Goku trains hard and eventually has a son, who he names Gohan after his adoptive grandfather.

When several of Goku’s friends are killed by two of the surviving Saiyans, he is forced to go to a planet called Namek for help. On this planet there are items called Dragon Balls. When all seven Dragon Balls are collected together, a Dragon god will appear and grant you three wishes. Unfortunately, Frieza is after the same items and already has five of them in his possession. To make things even worse, the prince of all Saiyans named Vegeta is also after the Dragon Balls.

After many battles, much destruction, and successfully gathering the Dragon Balls, Goku finally faces Frieza. When Goku is no match for the super villain he is forced to go to his last resort, and his most powerful attack. Goku nearly destroys the entire planet but Frieza survives with few wounds. Proving he cannot be beaten, Frieza kills Goku’s best friend Krillin, and fatally wounds a close friend, named Piccolo. Seeing this happen enrages Goku so much that he undergoes a transformation legend of the Saiyans; a super Saiyan. While in this new level he grows far stronger than Frieza and easily defeats him. From then on Goku was a Super Saiyan.

Note: All of the information I have stated above about the Saiyans comes from FUNimation’s American dubbed version, and is slightly different from the original Japanese version.

Saiyan Armor

Hello friends! I have often noticed that people don’t pay any attention to what the warriors are wearing as they are engrossed in the fighting! Well this is for those who really pay attention to everything happening.

Royal Saiyan Armor:
We see this outfit only worn by King Vegeta and his son Prince Vegeta because they are royal Saiyans. However, Vegeta only wears this when he is a child. It is traditional Saiyan armor but the royal emblem (located on the chest) and red cape added.

Saiyan Armor Colored:
We see Vegeta wear this when he is traveling to Earth in the Saiyan Saga. When he actually arrives on Earth the armor is much more like the armor Nappa is wearing in the next image. The only thing that sets it apart from regular Saiyan armor is it’s coloring.

Saiyan Armor Model 1:
This is the typical Saiyan armor, which most Saiyans wore. It’s only later in the series that new variations and improved models are created. Which by this point most of the Saiyans has been killed.
Saiyan Armor v2:
On Namek Krillin receives armor similar to Nappa’s. Unlike Krillin’s, Nappa’s armor has a crotch guard in the front along with more detail around the chest. Krillin also has a slightly larger jumpsuit underneath and his gloves/boots are just plain white.
Saiyan Armor v3:
On Namek Gohan receives this Saiyan armor from Vegeta, he wears a jumpsuit under that covers him from the neck down. This version of the armor has completely lost the crotch guards, and much detail. This model was also worn by Vegeta for his early time on Namek.
Saiyan Armor m2:
We see Vegeta in is this older style Saiyan armor that he took from Frieza’s ship, during Goku’s recovery. It is the same as his previous outfit, except this time there are no shoulder guards, and the jumpsuit is now navy blue.
Saiyan Armor Model 3: Bulma’s Model:
This is a variation on the above armor that Bulma makes for Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Future Trunks. They all wear a blue jumpsuit under the armor that covers the whole back from the neck down. The armor is again white with a yellow section, but only covers the chest. The shoulder guards are now nothing but two little straps made of the same yellow material. White gloves and yellow tipped boots are also worn with the outfit. We mostly see this armor worn in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber and considering the time this outfit was worn and how much training was done in them they held up well. When Vegeta wears the armor he decides to keep his blue jumpsuit, white gloves, and boots but uses the chest piece.
